Instructional Procedures for F2F
| 1. |  Optional: Arrange the room in pairs or pods. |
| 2. |   Ask the class how many of them feel like experts on performing hands only CPR. Show of hands. Tell them by the end of the class you want all of them to feel like experts. |
| 3. | Ask anyone in the class if they have had any experience with anyone they loved with cardiac arrest. Pick videos of personal stories of people who have been impacted by hands only CPR. Matt & Sean’s Story or Shared Moments. |
| 4. | Explain it should not be something they are scared to perform. This class is aimed to make them feel comfortable performing hands only CPR. |
| 5. | Option: You can order CPR Anytime kits for your classroom. This way your participants will be able to practice on an actual personal mankin. You can also use pillows for practice just so they can get comfortable with the beats per minute. |
| 6. | Show the Hands Only CPR Video – Live Training Version. |
| 7. | Reinforce that there are really only 2 steps! Call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest. Pass out the fact sheet. |
| 8. | Explain that the pushing should be done fast in the center of the chest to a beat that is 100 to 120 beats per minute. Play some of the songs that follow this beat: Don’t Drop the Beat by the American Heart Association Playlist. Have participants practice the pushing on a manikin or on the pillow. Do at least 3 songs. |
| 9. | Explain that the American Heart Association actually as kiosks that they can get a certification card. If they are ever by one of the locations, they can take the test on an actual simulator. |
Instructional Procedures for Online
| 1. | Assign the Basic First Aid: Hands-Only CPR eNugget®. |
| 2. | Send out an email after to encourage that they download the playlists and practice on a pillow. Restress that there are really only 2 steps! Call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest. They can download the fact sheet. |
| 3. | In your email, explain that the pushing should be done fast in the center of the chest to a beat that is 100 to 120 beats per minute. Play some of the songs that follow this beat: Don’t Drop the Beat by the American Heart Association Playlist. Encourage participants to practice the pushing on a manikin available in the purchased training kit or on a pillow. Do at least 3 songs. |
