Winning in Learning Tip #27: Winning is Not Losing

In education, a winning mindset is rooted in understanding the brain’s role in learning, well-being, and performance. Neuroscience shows that engaging the mind can authentically drive deeper connections, motivation, and success. The key to happiness is in the drive, not the achievement. Our goal is to provide weekly tips and strategies for building a winning mindset and a generative drive to help you build a connected culture and a more engaged workforce. I Love Learning Podcast, S2 EP27: Tracy Rushing, Executive Director of Safety & Recruiting at R.E. Garrison Trucking

What does Tracy think about winning?

“So, it means not losing. A win to me is not out-performing, it’s not about being better or worse than the competition. It’s about, if we have a driver who was in a bad place mentally this morning and this afternoon, and they’re in a better place. We didn’t lose any ground with that driver. That’s a win. If we have a driver support person who had technical difficulties all day long and they really struggled, and then we got that solved by the end of the day, we didn’t lose. And so sometimes winning is as simple as not losing and then making sure that you wait for that as a win.”
