The Courage to Create: Kyle A. Greene on the Power of Mindset

The Courage to Create

Innovation rarely begins with perfect conditions. More often, it begins with curiosity, learning, and the courage to take the first step. Neuroscience shows that when we embrace new experiences and challenge ourselves to learn, the brain forms new neural pathways, strengthening our capacity for creativity, problem-solving, and growth. Every small step forward literally reshapes the brain, turning possibility into progress.

This season is a tribute to Fred our mascot whose inspiration came from our CEO’s grandfather and to every person who has ever started with nothing more than an idea.

I Love Learning Podcast, S4 EP3: Randy Elam

When most of us hear the word create, we think about inventors, artists, or entrepreneurs. We picture someone building something that didn’t exist before. But after talking with Kyle A. Greene on the I Love Learning Podcast, I was reminded that some of the most important things we’ll ever create can’t be held in our hands. We create belief. We create hope. We create opportunities for others to see something in themselves they may have never seen before.

That’s what made Kyle’s perspective fit so perfectly with this season’s theme, The Courage to Create.

Kyle, known as the Dream Changer and author of The Mentality Changer, has dedicated his life to helping people understand that their circumstances don’t define them. Throughout our conversation, he came back to one simple truth: if you want your life to change, your mindset has to change first. Real transformation doesn’t begin with external success. It begins with the story you tell yourself about who you are and what’s possible.

I think that’s something all of us need to hear. It’s easy to admire people who have built successful careers or made a lasting impact, but we rarely think about the mindset they had to create before anyone else believed in them. Confidence isn’t something we’re born with. Resilience isn’t automatic. Hope takes work. Every one of those things is something we build over time, often in the face of disappointment, rejection, or fear.

What stood out to me most was Kyle’s reminder that we’re all creators, whether we realize it or not. Every conversation creates an experience. Every leader creates a culture. Every teacher creates an environment where students either discover confidence or lose it. Every parent creates memories that shape the way their children see themselves. Even our words have the power to create belief or doubt in the people around us.

When you look at creativity through that lens, it becomes much bigger than innovation or invention. Creating is choosing to encourage instead of criticize. It’s seeing potential in someone before they see it in themselves. It’s helping another person believe that their future can look different from their past.

As I listened to Kyle, I found myself thinking about the people who did that for me. We all have someone who believed in us at just the right moment, a teacher, a coach, a mentor, a family member, or a friend. They probably don’t realize the impact they had, but their belief helped create the confidence we needed to keep going. What if we chose to be that person for someone else?

That’s the kind of courage our world needs. Not just the courage to invent something new, but the courage to speak life into others, to challenge limiting beliefs, and to create environments where people can grow into who they’re meant to become.

Kyle’s message is a powerful reminder that changing the world doesn’t always start with a groundbreaking idea. Sometimes it starts with changing one mindset. One conversation. One person who decides to believe that something better is possible.

Maybe that’s the greatest thing any of us will ever create.
