Learning Corner: Small Habits, Big Learning: Creating Repeatable Moments in 2026

The start of a new year often comes with big plans for training: new programs, new content, new initiatives.

But the learning moments that truly stick usually aren’t the biggest ones.

They’re the moments that feel personal.

In January’s Learning Snack Session, we explored what it means to design learning with emotional resonance, not drama or storytelling for its own sake, but meaning. The kind of meaning that helps learners feel seen, slows them down just enough to reflect, and connects training to what’s actually at stake in their day-to-day work.

Emotional resonance shows up in small ways:

  • A scenario that feels familiar instead of theoretical
  • A reflection question that invites honesty instead of a right answer
  • A pause that asks, “Why does this matter to me?”

These moments don’t add time to training. They change how learners experience it.

Instead of leading with rules alone, try framing learning through lived experience:

You’re tired. It’s been a long route. Rushing feels easier, but one small decision can change everything.

That shift from instruction to connection creates space for reflection and ownership. And ownership is what turns information into behavior.

As you plan your first training cycles of the year, consider adding just one emotionally resonant “micro-moment” to an existing eNugget®:

  • Start with a single image, sound, or question.
  • Add one short reflection.
  • Tie the message back to values learners care about: family, pride in the job, getting home safely.

You don’t need to redesign everything. Small design choices can have an outsized impact.

Learning sticks when it feels human. January is a good time to start there.
