Neuroscience shows that when we embrace new experiences and challenge ourselves to learn, the brain forms new neural pathways, strengthening our capacity for creativity, problem-solving, and growth. Every small step forward literally reshapes the brain, turning possibility into progress.

Some of the most meaningful things we create don’t begin with a big idea. They begin with experience—with years of learning, noticing what others need, and eventually realizing that what we’ve learned could be used to make a difference.
The difficult part is acting on that realization.
In this episode, Dearon Tyler II, CEO of Roadside Manners LLC, shares how he went from driving trucks to inspecting them at weigh stations and eventually becoming an FMCSA safety investigator. Each step gave him a different view of the transportation industry and, more importantly, a deeper understanding of the people working within it.
Then he made a courageous decision: he left a successful career to build something of his own.
Dearon started with little more than a laptop, his experience, and an idea for helping motor carriers through safety meetings and mock audits. Nearly 12 years later, that decision has grown into a business focused on helping carriers stay safe, profitable, and compliant.
What stood out in our conversation was Dearon’s belief that creating something isn’t enough. We also have to develop the people who will carry it forward. A safety program can look perfect on paper, but without leadership, compassion, learning, and the human element, it becomes little more than a checklist.
That lesson extends far beyond transportation.
Creating meaningful change requires more than a great idea. It requires the courage to believe that what you’ve learned has value, the willingness to keep learning, and the commitment to use your experience to serve others.
Sometimes purpose has been developing inside us all along.
We just need the courage to act on it.
