Winning in Learning Tip #17: Attachment to Joy

In education, a winning mindset is rooted in understanding the brain’s role in learning, well-being, and performance. Neuroscience shows that engaging the mind can authentically drive deeper connections, motivation, and success. The key to happiness is in the drive, not the achievement. Our goal is to provide weekly tips and strategies for building a winning mindset and a generative drive to help you build a connected culture and a more engaged workforce. I Love Learning Podcast, S2 EP17: Richard Walker, Senior Manager, Transportation at Husqvarna Group

When asked about winning, Richard said:

“I think if you asked me that years ago it would be much different. It would be winning is winning, like coming in first place, like being the best. Now, where I am in my life and where I’m still trying to get to, winning to me is just attached totally to joy. So, when I get up in the morning and my feet hit the floor, being mindful, focusing on what’s important to me, focusing on bringing joy to my life, to my family’s life and the people around me. When I go to bed at night, when I’m done reading and I close the book, I run through my head – did I win today? Who did I help? Did I make a difference?”
